Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names.

Coimbra — 2 nights

The university town of Coimbra exudes modern flair while embracing its roots as the medieval capital of Portugal.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Wed): take in the spiritual surroundings of Convento de Cristo, examine the collection at Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro, and then enjoy the scholastic atmosphere at University of Coimbra. On your second day here, get a sense of history and politics at Palacio da Justica, then steep yourself in history at Igreja e Mosteiro da Santa Cruz, then admire the landmark architecture of Old Monestary of Santa Clara, and finally test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms.

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Igreja de Sao Domingos (Santa Justa e Rufina) and Speed Boats Tours. Explore Lisbon's surroundings by going to Marechal Carmona Park (in Cascais) and Setubal (Serra da Arrabida & Casa da Baia – Centro de Promocao Turistica). You can drive from Coimbra to Lisbon in 2.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 20°C in March, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
