Create an itinerary including The Roman Baths
See how ancient Romans bathed at The Roman Baths. Hot springs have bubbled up in Bath since time immemorial, and the Romans began developing a temple and public bathhouse here around 60 CE. Today, you can tour the various sections of the incredibly well-preserved complex, including the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, and the Roman Bath House. The main area of interest is the open-air, column-lined Great Bath. When you enter the site, make sure to take the audio guide that's included in the ticket price. After touring the different areas, enter the museum to see artifacts collected from the original bath. As tempting as it might be to bathe yourself where ancient Romans once did, the site does not permit you to enter the water. A visit to The Roman Baths represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Bath online road trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • Bought tickets there. Very friendly staff. Audio tour very good. Really interesting place and lots to see. Kids got a little bored, but also learnt a lot and enjoyed on the most part.

  • A great reason to visit Bath, is the Roman Bath House. What has managed to have been recovered and restored is nothing short of spectacular. To be able to walk the exposed flagstones on slightly raised walkways is a great improvement. Helpful staff available and willing to answer queries but the Free Audio Guide is excellent and reveals so much information. Our tour took 2½ hours at a steady pace. The gift shop had some originality but 'T' shirts and fudge are still the order of the day..!! Recommended, as long as you take the Audio Guide.
  • Amazing site to visit. The way it’s presented brings the story alive. Particularly appreciated the well-produced and often very funny audio guide narrative. There are so many interesting things to see and learn about. Nice use of video - not intrusive at all and cleverly done in places. Well worth the entrance fee.
