Create an itinerary including Hengistbury Head Beach
Jutting into the English Channel stands Hengistbury Head Beach, host to rare plant species and wildlife, some of Britain's most expensive beach huts, and a plethora of ancient monuments. Pay a visit to the visitor center to learn more about the area’s ecology, archaeology, and history, with monuments dating from the Late Upper Paleolithic period to the Roman settlement of Britain. Take in the scenery by walking on well-defined gravel paths or strolling across its sandy beaches. If you’re feeling adventurous, visit the Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre for activities such as sailing, power boating, and windsurfing--although these should be booked in advance. For weary legs, the Noddy Train makes regular journeys from the cafe located at the bottom of the Head to the end of the spit, taking around ten minutes. Parking is available but can fill up early, particularly in summer months. There are a number of extra parking options available in the nearby towns. • A great place to visit, especially if you have a dog. The car park was quite reasonably priced, as it was off season. The toilets were clean and tidy. A lot of walkers and cyclists, but plenty of room for all. The views from the top are fantastic. Not the sort of place I would choose to go in the high season, or when the weather forecast is for wind and rain!
  • Really nice place for slow or more intense walks, all necessary amenities are next to the car park. Been here countless times and it never gets boring.
