Create an itinerary including Holyrood Park
A royal park in the center of Edinburgh, Holyrood Park is the best place to get an overview of the Scottish city. Just 1.6 km (1 mi) from Edinburgh Castle, the park features hills, lochs, glens, and basalt cliffs that were once part of the royal deer-hunting grounds. Walking trails etch the park: Follow one up to the highest point in Edinburgh, Arthur's Seat. The seat rises 251 m (823 ft) over the city and provides a breath-taking view. Nestled between the hills is St. Margaret's Loch, where ducks, geese, and swans float. Nearby stand the ruins of an Augustinian abbey that was in use until the 16th century. You'll also find a cairn, a man-made stone pile, that commemorates the murder of a long-suffering wife and a chapel with mysterious origins. Holyrood Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

  • Have to imagine that this is one of the greatest urban parks in the world. Its not the largest, but few other places offers sets of massive hills/a mini mountain skyline just minutes from a large downtown. There's a 3 mile paved loop around the park for those wanting an easier route, but the hilly, rocky interior is the highlight. Fantastic views not only of Old Edinburgh but the coast and hills for many miles.
  • Lovely park You can catch sight of ducks and swan in the water body inside the park. Trail is relaxing and beautiful. Great view from hike on the mountain Easy hike for anyone who want to have a sight of beautiful landscape. You can also bring in some food as there is not much options around the park. Must visit for a great walk with amazing views
