Referred to as the High Kirk of Edinburgh, St Giles' Cathedral is the city's principal place of worship. Located on the Royal Mile, the cathedral is an iconic landmark in the Edinburgh skyline. Much of the current building was restored in the 19th century, but the four pillars in the center are thought to date back to 1124. Chapels, called aisles, were built around the pillars and extended out on all sides. This unique arrangement coupled with the vaulted ceilings and vibrant stained glass give the cathedral a timelessness. • Beautiful architecture and lots of areas with historical write ups all dotted around the building. Well worth a visit.

  • We enjoyed our visit to this cathedral. There was no entry fee, or pressure to donate. It was much more interesting than we had anticipated and worth doing if you are in Edinburgh.

  • What an amazing place to visit and should be on your sightseeing bucket list. It had such a beautiful and calming atmosphere set within such a historic place. Its worth the visit if your ever up here in Edinburgh and strongly recommend it. Its free to get in and you can make a donation if you like.
  • Beautiful! I suggest to anyone to come here to view this beautiful cathedral. Whether you are religious or not, it is a sight to see. The stained glass is beautiful and the architecture and artwork. They have a gift shop as well. They suggest a £5 donation for tourists
