Greenock has its own version of the Kelpies horse and it's a sculpture by Andy Scott, located at the piazza at the east end of Cathcart Street. The sculpture shows Ginger the Horse who we're told was a horses who pulled carts, transporting goods to and from Greenock's docks. Unfortunately on one of the journeys, the cartwheel caught a mooring stanchion causing both the cart and horse to fall into the river. Sadly, Ginger did not survive.
