Started by Baron Schroder in the late 19th century, hill paths meander through 20 acres of conifers and rhododendrons.

Totally transformed after the 1980s storms by Nicky & Ewen Macpherson, it is now a painter's garden, designed to frame the magnificent views of Skye and the surrounding hills. Waterfalls, Monet bridges, meconopsis, bamboo & candelabra primula are reflected in dark pools. Sculpture lurks in unexpected places.

  • Really interesting range of plants. The rhodendrons and azaleas were particularly stunning. Beautiful sculptures situated around the garden and a viewpoint worth climbing up to. The Midge Bite Cafe...

  • Lovely gardens, something different round every corner. Red squirrels to spot as well!! A wonderful afternoon finished off in their "self service" cafe, where we feasted on homemade ice creams and tea!! They have freshly made sandwiches, homemade soups and yummy proper homemade cakes!! An absolute gem!! Also dog friendly!
  • Beautiful place to visit, I loved the mix of beautiful garden and ancient woodland with sequoia and more, if you are a tree or flower lover this is a great place to see. The grounds and buildings are lovely and the honesty cafe is fab, the food is fresh and delicious especially the sandwiches and homemade cakes. Lovely place to walk and enjoy a wide range of non native flowers and beautiful gardens great value for money. Lovely staff too
