  • Certainly, worth a visit - bit of a twisty road but made it easily - suggest that you take binoculars if you have them, forgot to take mine but still lots to see with good information notes...

  • We loved visiting Dunnet Head with our friends and their dogs who love roaming around there although not too close to the cliffs!! It’s the most northerly point of Great Britain although always overlooked by John O’Groats through distance. The cliffs are breathtaking and there’s a beautiful lighthouse. It has a fabulous history with WWII fortifications there including a bunker used in the Cold War. It’s fabulous for bird watching and apparently a great spot for seeing the puffins although we were just out of season. The carpark is ample and free as so many are in the Highlands and it wasn’t difficult to reach. The cliffs are vast so be careful taking children and dogs but everyone will enjoy having a leisurely walk and taking in the views.
  • 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Yet another location definitely worth seeing while exploring NC500 route. 🌅 You can see as far as the horizon in almost all directions. The lighthouse and it's facilities proudly stand over the cliff face. 🚶 Park your vehicle and have a walk around if you have time to explore all the interesting sites around the area and if your are in luck, you might be able to spot some of the local wildlife, absolutely unique to this area. 💷 Parking is limited but enough as the footfall and visitors rotation is quite efficient. 🪖 There are also some ruins from the WW2 worth exploring nearby.
