Create an itinerary including Papago Park
Offering a safe way to explore the Sonoran Desert, Papago Park attracts visitors with its rock formations and wide variety of desert plants, including giant saguaro cacti. In addition to its extensive network of dirt and paved trails, the hilly desert park houses a botanical garden and a large zoo. The park contains sandstone formations created at least 6 million years ago, and they are notable, but its signature feature remains a small pyramidal tomb of Arizona's first governor, built in 1931 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. To orient yourself in the undeveloped desert areas, download or print a tri-fold trail map from the park's website before you visit. • The area around the Hole In The Rock is a nice way to experience the desert topography without having to venture too far from civilization. The trail up to the Hole is maintained but fairly steep...

  • We went up to the hole in the wall to watch the sun go down over Phoenix. It was spectacular to sit in the hole in the wall with more than a hundred people. It is an easy walk and well worth it.

  • Absolutely phenomenal views at sunrise and sunset and even if you don’t want to do the very short easy hike to the hole in the rock, the well maintained flat trails are perfect for an easy walk with amazing desert views. Would highly recommend for a time-limited outing with a ton of bang for your buck. Also so easy even a baby or elderly person could walk all these trails and even go up to the hole in the rock.
  • . Totally wonderful perspectives at the crack of dawn and dusk and regardless of whether you believe should do the exceptionally short simple climb to the opening in the stone, the very much kept up with level paths are ideally suited for a simple stroll with astounding desert sees. Would energetically suggest for a period restricted outing with a lot of value for your money. Likewise so natural even a child or older individual could walk this large number of trails and, surprisingly, go up to the opening in the stone.
