On the western bank of the Perfume River stands Tomb of Minh Mang, an architectural complex consisting of 40 buildings, including palaces, pavilions, and temples. Built in 1843, the complex holds the remains of Nguyen dynasty emperor who established a more efficient Vietnamese government, built many monuments, and stopped the Siamese invasion. Pass through one of two side-gates to enter a courtyard decorated with horse and elephant statues. • Disappointed as I specifically chose this tomb as research said they have an audio guide which I find in Vietnam helps me get so much more out of these historic sites. Sadly for unexplained reasons the person who normally sells audio guides wasn’t there today? On a Saturday during Festival Hue. The person who sold me the ticket at the gate didn’t even acknowledge that there were audio guides usually. Limited English by staff. The only information I was able to get was a single paper in French. No English available. Price was too high considering this. Also I paid the most I have ever paid for water here even after trying to bargain. Double the price at the Citadel yesterday.
  • It was okay. Not too spectacular. The coconut was sweet and good. That I would suggest. And the bathroom was really clean, so clean that you could drop a #2
