Pu Mat National Park, Vinh

The Pu Mat National Park head office looks like the website: nothing new since eight to ten years. Many sections are empty or outdated, even more empty links in English. Nothing of all the interessting offers and tours are available. Visitors are looked at like intruders and sent back. The area urgently needs competent support and investment to touristically promote the park. And dont tell is for Covid ... the rusty paint is too old. (August 2020; be aware: most comments do refer to the beautiful and interesting region as a whole, and NOT to parks head office).

The trip to Pu Mat National wasn’t worth it if you would ask us. Because of: 1. If you are looking for a ‘jungle’ hike, you need to be guided by a ranger. You can arrange that at the ranger station though. I can’t remember the price, but it was was decent for a day. 2. If you are looking for wildlife, there is bearly anything left because of hunting. We did a guided walk for 5 hours in total and the only thing we did see were mosquito’s. Seriously, cover yourself 100% with clothes. Even your face is recommended. 3. To get near Pu Mat National Park is quit a long trip for seeying nothing. Our accomodation at con cuong was cute though. But literally nothing there. Stay at the coastline for more fun.
